Terms of Service

1. Overview

Smart Search Chips (“the Plugin”) is a WordPress plugin developed and maintained by Jan Bartos (“the Author”). By installing, activating, or using the Plugin, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. License

The free version of the Plugin is licensed under the GPL v2 or later. You may use, modify, and redistribute it in accordance with that license.

The Pro version is a premium extension. A valid license key, purchased through Freemius, is required to activate Pro features. Each license is valid for one site unless a multi-site license is purchased.

3. Payments and Billing

Pro licenses are sold through Freemius, which handles all payment processing. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annual) unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your Freemius account.

4. Refunds

We offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee on initial Pro purchases. If you are unhappy with Smart Search Chips Pro or experience an issue we are unable to resolve, contact us within 14 days of purchase. See our Refund Policy for details.

5. Support

Free users can report bugs via the WordPress.org support forum. Pro users receive priority email support. See our Support Policy for scope and response times.

6. Product Discontinuation

We may stop selling, developing, or actively maintaining Smart Search Chips or Smart Search Chips Pro in the future. If this happens, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active Pro customers in advance.

For active paid subscriptions, we will either continue providing access, compatibility updates, and support until the end of the current paid billing period, or provide an appropriate refund or alternative remedy where required by law.

The installed plugin may continue to run on your WordPress site after active development ends, but we do not guarantee indefinite compatibility with future WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, theme, or third-party plugin versions.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Plugin is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The Author does not warrant that the Plugin will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every WordPress configuration, theme, or third-party plugin.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Author shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Plugin. This includes, without limitation, loss of profits, loss of revenue, lost sales, business interruption, loss of data, store downtime, changes in search result ordering, loss of goodwill, or costs of restoring a website.

You are responsible for maintaining backups, testing Plugin updates on a staging site where appropriate, and confirming compatibility with your theme, hosting environment, WordPress configuration, and other plugins.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the Plugin in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Plugin after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
